Video of a pod of three striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba) and echolocation clicks recorded by an underwater Spydro® camera attached on a branchline of a pelagic longline deployed in the Eastern Corsica
Pelagic longline gear has been deployed in collaboration with French commercial longline vessels to study underwater capture/escapement processes of megafauna. Underwater cameras attached to the branch lines, 1-2 metres above the hook, allowed the observation of a pod of 3 short-beaked dolphins. Their echolocation clicks were also recorded by the Spydro® underwater camera. No interaction with the baited hook was observed.
